Guest artist for March & April 2019
The work of ceramicist and sculptor Barbara Colla is hewn from a deep interest in history, discovering the past through the traces left behind in the landscape and artefacts long since forgotten. An air of mystery is created when looking through spaces to that which lies beyond, discovering hidden layers which lie in the memory of a place.
Barbara Colla’s current work emphasises a timeless view of Kent past and present, through the lyrical sculptures of ancient woodlands and the turbulent nature of the seascape.
Barbara studied at Canterbury Christ Church University leading to an MA in Fine Art.
She works from her studio in Ramsgate, and has exhibited widely throughout Kent including The Beaney, Canterbury and as part of East Kent Artist’s Open Houses.
