Guest artist for April & May 2019
Having been trained and still working as a picture restorer, Joanna’s attitude towards art has been very specific, acting more like a doctor providing cure for ailing and damaged pictures. It is often very challenging, but satisfying and at times humbling and it definitely leaves a lasting influence on her own creations.
So it is not surprising that Joanna’s own art is strongly rooted in a classical school of painting, with traditional materials and techniques.
She finds her inspiration in everyday life, landscapes, people and animals. She likes her paintings to tell a story, often with a whimsical touch.
Through her paintings and etchings – she tries to evoke a specific mood of captured moments and imbue a sense of magic into a so called obvious normality. Her recent paintings have been more immediate and impressionistic.
