‘Meet the Artists’ afternoon
Come and browse our new exhibition and enjoy some cake and fizz at ArtSpring Gallery when we are excited to introduce our guest artists for March and April.
Saturday 2nd March 2-4pm
167 High Street, Tonbridge, Kent TN9 1BX
Guest artist : Giles Whitehead
Giles grew up on a farm in Tenterden, Kent. Influenced by his rural surroundings and his father who was a farmer, musician and craftsman.
Giles’s art focuses on the more quirky aspects of life. He uses evocative colours, textures and worn surfaces to create thought-provoking and humorous pieces, frequently painting on and sculpting in wood. Giles depicts places he has visited and people he has observed in his own unique style, giving rise to both a sense of place and history.
Guest artist : Barbara Colla
The work of ceramicist and sculptor Barbara Colla is hewn from a deep interest in history, discovering the past through the traces left behind in the landscape and artefacts long since forgotten. Her current work emphasises a timeless view of Kent past and present, through the lyrical sculptures of ancient woodlands and the turbulent nature of the seascape.
Barbara studied at Canterbury Christ Church University leading to an MA in Fine Art. She works from her studio in Ramsgate, and has exhibited widely throughout Kent.
Guest artist : Colin Anderson
We have three guest artists this month with Colin Anderson’s work in the gallery until the end of March. You can buy his book “ Less discovered landscapes” in the gallery for £12.
