Come and meet our new guest artists!
We are delighted to introduce two guest artists for June and July, printmaker Suzie Dafforn and jeweller Robert Ketch.

Suzie Dafforn

Suzie studied Illustration at the University of Westminster specialising in Natural History. She takes inspiration from nature, drawing the birds, plants & animals she sees around her every day or even from a little further afield.

She has a special interest in birds, how our relationships with them have changed, what we have lost and gained. She likes to discover the folklore around the birds she is looking at, how our names and connections with them vary from place to place and over time. Her drawings are mainly in charcoal and pastels but she also makes prints with lino and enjoys working on handmade paper that has a distinct quality of its own.

Robert Ketch

Robert Ketch is a jewellery maker predominantly working in silver. He studied at the London Guildhall University on a HND course, having first completed an access course with Chelsea School of Art. He recently joined Maille Artisans International League (M.A.I.L.) for people who are passionate about chainmaille jewellery making and loves to create weaves that are uncommon.

Currently he is experimenting with patinas, plating and etching and loves to bring colour and texture to his work in new and exciting ways that are unusual or unique.

Thank you to everyone who came to our ‘Artists at Work’ weekend.
We had a fantastic time and were particularly impressed with our young participants and their printed birds.

More art events in and around Tonbridge

Another highlight in the June calendar will be Tonbridge Art Fair along the River Walk, overlooked by Tonbridge Castle. The fair is free to visitors and promises to be an enjoyable day out by the River Medway. Come along and check out the ArtSpring Gallery stand.

Artists’ Open Studios

Artists’ Open Studios in June will be taking place in Tonbridge, Hildenborough, Hadlow and Yalding. This event fills the gap in the art calendar left by South East Open Studios taking a year out and not running in 2018.
Art trail leaflets will be available soon at libraries, shops, galleries, tourist information sites and more.

Every weekend in June

The event runs every weekend in June, from 11am-6pm on each Saturday and Sunday.
Not all artists exhibit every weekend, so check the trail or visit for more info and a downloadable copy of the art trail and map.
